What our reading routine looks like...

-Small Group Reading: 9:05 - 9:35am

Students are grouped with other students who have similar learning goals. They work in groups of 5-10 students with an assigned educational assistant or 1st grade teacher.

  • sight words

  • phonemic awareness (blending, segmenting)

  • letter sounds

  • guided reading

-Whole Group Reading: 1:30-2:30 pm

  • Wordplay Warmup

  • Phonemic Awareness

  • Vocabulary Boost

  • High Frequency Words 

  • Phonics Lesson / Decodable Reader

  • Reading Skill Lesson / Story (read and comprehend)

-Language Arts: 10:05-10:35 and 12:50-1:30

​We do a variation of the following:

  • Read to Self 

  • Read to Someone

  • Listen to Reading 

  • Word Work (spelling)

  • Work on Writing (writing and grammar)
